2021 was a big year for The Henlo Press.
We had so many plans going into the new year.
Herd Con, West Virginia Book Fest, and a mini-book tour to celebrate the launch of our 2020 book, The Dictionary Game: Stare Down the Moon by Mike Hornyak.
Talk about discouraging.
But I am not here to talk about what sucked in 2021. I want to tell you all about the exciting things happening.
First- The Dictionary Game!
The Dictionary Game continues to grow!
Sales have been consistent, and we love sharing this with you! During Pride month, you warmed our hearts as sales increased with proceeds donated to Author Mike Hornyak's charity of choice, Equality Toledo.
Mike even had an opportunity to take The Dictionary to the Writer's Block Author's Fair in Toledo!
2021 was good for The Dictionary Game, but 2022 will be even better!
We have reactivated the Facebook group and Instagram with weekly prompts. Join us for a year of The Dictionary Game and share your creative arts with us for a chance to be our feature writer/artist.
In a perfect world, we would love to use this year of collaborative game-play for a literary-art journal to share at the end of the year.
We are also in the early stages of planning our mini-book tour to give this wonderful collection the (re?)launch that it truly deserves!
We are wrapping things up on our newest book, Afterwords by Stephen Bias.
We were blown away by your kindness and generosity. Funding for this book surpassed all expectations and then some.
This project has been a blast to work on, and we really can't wait to get it into your hands soon.
This is so close to being done and in the hands of our lovely Kickstarter backers. So close, as in we are sending off for our proofs here in the next couple of days.
Preorders will be opening at the end of the week if you didn't get in on the Kickstarter in time.
Keep an eye out for more launch celebration information coming soon!
We have partnered with a wonderful local author and a talented local illustrator. We will introduce them to you later this week as Henlo gets ready to announce our first picture book projects!
These are super cute and fun.
(Teaser image is too good to not share.)
Now to the more businessy things-
In 2021, The Henlo Press went from a Sole Proprietorship to an official L.L.C.!
I could not have asked for a better business partner than our lovely editor, Chandler Haun.
We have been in partnership over the last 6 months with the Kentucky Women's Business Association to see what steps we needed to take The Henlo Press to the next level. There is a lot of work to be done, but we have never been so excited.
We have big dreams, and we can't wait to share them with you.
Changes are coming.
Count down with us through January as we get ready to meet new faces and new ideas with a refreshed and reinvigorated Henlo Press.
