We're Back!
We’re Back!
Another New Year has come to pass, and we’re excited to get back on the grind! As cliche as it might be, we like to use the New Year to set up our Henlo goals. We’ve got a lot of great things in mind, and I wanted to take time to share what we’re looking to do for this year as a company, and what I’m looking to do this year too!
Our main goal is this: Generate 10 new submissions by the end of the year. So you know what that means. It’s time to submit! If your New Year’s resolution is to finally get that book written or published, then we are here for you! As the Chief Editor for the Henlo Press, I’m more than happy to take a look at a sample of your work and send you some advice on content, or even line editing. The Henlo’s mission is to cultivate an artists first community! You can send works in any genre to submissions@thehenlopress.com or if you just have a question, you can fill out my Ask the Editor survey and I’ll respond! We have some awesome groups on Facebook too, but you can start by checking out our main page. Follow us for great weekly content and to have discussions with fellow artists!
Now for my goal. I post to our blog frequently, but I’ve never published or submitted any of my own writing. The truth is, I’m not a novelist. I love to read novels in various genres, and I love to talk about them and help people write their own, but I’ve never been able to replicate the kinds of stories that I love to read. I am a writer, but I write best when it’s creative nonfiction. I’m an essayist at heart, and in recent months I’ve felt that all too familiar tug. My goal for this year is to write an essay. I’m not sure what it’s going to be about yet, but if I write down that goal and tell it to the world then I’m under an obligation to try. So I am going to try! Who knows, maybe I’ll even submit it for publication in a magazine!
I’m excited to take on this new year with the Henlo Press! We’ve got some awesome news to share too, but it’ll be a couple weeks before we do so, I think. Make sure you’re following along to find out what’s new! Happy writing!
With love,
Your friend at The Henlo Press
