Write Something!

It’s that time of year again! We have rung in a New Year, and with that, committed ourselves to new promises of what we will accomplish in the months to come.

What commitments have you made to yourself? Going to drink more water? Save more money? Visit with family or friends more? Or if you’re like us, and thusly bitten by the need to create and explore the written world, then maybe your promise was something like mine…

For me, many New Years have come and gone since I accomplished writing something with the intention of publishing it. While I haven’t excelled in crafting content, I have excelled in creating excuses for myself. The best one’s always boiled down to LIFE just gets in the way.

This year, I am taking a new approach to just how I should be defining LIFE. While I make no claims to have something as intimidating as life all figured out, I am focusing on a facet of it.

Happiness. Come hell or high water, I am determined to do all I can to be happier this year. And for me, that means writing because…

There is nothing better than coming home after a day that’s been chockfull of reality and sink into world that is vibrant, alive with something that is wonderfully and uniquely different than what life is offering. While reading offers this, creating a story of your very own, pouring pieces of yourself into such a world, word by word is utterly and personally rewarding.

If you’re like me and my friends at the Henlo Press, you also find happiness in such creations.

The question now, is what will you do achieve your writing goals? For me right now it’s about staying inspired. That means reading content on the actual process of writing. I just finished reading Take Off Your Pants! by Libbie Hawker. I found it to be a motivating read in the art of crafting story-drive n outlines. The focus on story over plot made it a compelling tool to me as a writer.

(Check it out for yourself here! )

Our hope is that we can help inspire you this year. When life gets too full of reality, feel encouraged to escape back into your own creations. Don’t let up on the promises you’ve made to yourself. They are important, because your stories need to be told!

So from us to you,

Cheers to a New Year!

Cheers to creating STORIES!

Cheers to telling LIFE to step aside for a moment!

With Love,

Your friends at the Henlo Press
